Second Supper Part Three

Papa was not big on fancy words or phrases. He was not into the latest gadgets or dodads. Reggy was not an expert on people’s feelings. His life had been centered around Katie and the children. He worked in construction and did well. This drama that the kids had created was a mystery to Reggy. All he knew was that his wife was broken and in tears. This had to stop!  He wanted Katie happy. She was his world; after 30 years, he had grown to love her more each day. Reggie was sad and upset at his children that they could not call their mama or see her.

The first thing he tried to do was call on Sunday afternoon. All he got was busy signals or voicemail. Then, he tried to email and text but did not respond. Katie became increasingly despondent, and Reggie became concerned for her health. All she did was stare out the window from her easy chair.

Reginald devised a plan. He wrote out an invitation card for each of them. On each card, it said you are invited to a second supper. Each young person must bring something for the meal’s main course, vegetables, or dessert. He wrote about the time and day of the special event. Reggie then added that he had a special announcement to share. Please confirm the dates and time and what you will bring.  Mama’s health has not been good lately, and I need to see you again.  Love you always, Dad.
Papa Reggie waited for several weeks and finally got a response from both of them to confirm they were coming to the second supper. Yes, it was a text, but at least it was a response.  Reggie prayed that God would intervene and bring Dave and Carol closer to their mama. Katie and Reggie prayed and asked God for help. They read scriptures together and believed that this could be their miracle. May a heart of stone become a heart of flesh. May God restore what the locust and moss have eaten. For the first time, Katie started believing that God would do just what he said. She prayed that if there were any wrongs, God would forgive her and bring her children back.
God heard her prayer, and the miracles God planned were beyond miraculous.
